IBM T23 - Fn+F3 doesn't work - Ibex beta

Asked by pxa

I did just install Ibex/Ubuntu 8.10 beta on my Thinkpad T23 laptop and found out, that key combination Fn+F3 / Fn+F4 / Fn+F12 don't work properly.

Screen off = Fn+F3 - doesn't work
Suspend to ram = Fn+F4 - suspends to disc instead
Suspend to disc = Fn+F12 - doesn't work

tpb is installed additionally

I changed

 /etc/default/acpi-default
HIBERNATION_MODE == shutdown to platform

as in some forums suggested.

Thanks for you help.

EDIT: ibm-acpi is not installed and could not be found via apt-get. Therefore I assume some trouble with the acpi support of Kernel 2.6.27. I found a bug report at:

Do you still have this problem in Karmic? I have a thinkpad x41 and can't reproduce this, it works for me. I know this question is old, but I hope you still don't have a problem :)

Hi Cameron,

actually the bug is gone since 9.04. All Special Key= fn +Fxx functions are working fine by now. I should have closed that error-report, but totally forgot about it.
On the other hand I've lost the OSD messages, when I change the display brightness or volume, even though it pops when brightness is dimed automaticly. It's a bit weary. I win and loose functions with every other version. I guess I just have to buy a newer laptop, but the old T23 works and works and works ... :-)

Greetings from Berlin
