8.10 won't start on a HP Pavilion DV6600

Asked by Whisperwolf

Hi people

I have an HP Pavilion DV6600 with an NVidia GeForce 7150M onboard video card, and that seems to be the problem. Booting from the CD stops complaining there's no compatible video card, and when I check the logs it seems to be bypassing the card altogether at boot time.

Is the Nvidia GeForce 7150M going to be supported in 8.10? 7.04 seemed to run fine with it (though 7.04 wouldn't use the wifi) so it seems 8.10 has taken a step backward rather than forward, because although 7.04 took ages to get the wifi working intermittently it had no problems with the video - 8.10 won't start at all because of no video.

Any ideas?

Hello !

Ubuntu 8.10 is still in development process, as it's a beta right now. Please report a bug concerning this.

For info, all recent nVidia cards should be supported, as it's the same driver for all of them (I'm currently running 8.10 with another nVidia card with no problem).

Regards,
Benoît
