Which features from KDE3 (3.5.10) will not be yet implemented into KDE4 (4.1.2)?

Asked by Uqbar

I'm running KDE 3.5.10 with Hardy Heron and am considering a switch to KDE 4.1.2 with Intrepid (in a near future).
In the past I had to switch back to KDE3 because KDE4 was still missing a number of features, while others were not stable enough.
What'd be the status of the KDE 4.1.2 when compared to KDE 3.5.10?
Thanks for the support.

I understand this question can be seen as a "hot potato".
Nonetheless, an answer would be appreciated by all Ubuntu users, both current and future.

It will still be a neat little, but quite beautiful, thing with very few features compared with 3.5. This is to be known by now. That incredible feature richness in 3.5 is hard to get and will not even be reached in 4.1.3. May be when 4.2 or 4.3 comes up in a few years.

Sounds scary for the productivity.
I would like to thank you (midnightflash) for the answer (any answer is better than none) but I'm still looking for a feature list. I'm sure my production PCs don't use 100% of KDE 3.5 features and would like to jump onto the KUbuntu 8.10 train if this makes any sense to me.
What I surely need is:
- KBluetooth
- KNetworkManager (v0.2.2) with both WiFi and wired
- KWalletmanager (v1.1)
- Power management for both desktops and laptops
- Kooka (v0.44)

Do you know whether these pieces of software are already/will be supported in KDE v4?

Ok... for Intrepid:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/kde/

could be a place to look at.

So let's take f.e. a look at Kooka. It is gone but there will be another scanning-tool for sure. A search for "scan" on the mentioned site leads us to:

skanlite (0.2-kde4.1.2-0ubuntu1) [universe]
    KDE 4 image scanning application

This might do the job now I think.

To bad I'm using Gnome. ;-)
