can not use some lunix distro. on my pc

hello
i tried to use kubuntu, zenwalk & fedora live cds on my pc { intel(r) celeron(r)
D cpu 3.06GHz, 2G of RAM} but when i log on i see a horizontal lines on my desktop , also i can't access my media storage & if i did i can not play any video or any audio

only slax live cd works well in my pc

please help me because i realy want to use this great OS instead of using windows xp

How much RAM you have?

The modern linux distros need minimum 512 MB of RAM for smooth operation.

i have install ubuntu 8.04 on on my pc { intel(r) pentium
 cpu 3.06GHz, 256 of RAM ...yes 256 of RAM and it work fine..i had some problem with my video card VIA SG3 unichrom ....but now i resolved it .i stil need help with my webcam.i-Nix

i guess it will install on ur Pc too .. try it
