"software driver in CDROM drive, icon appears but print command idle..."

Are you trying to install a driver written for Windows? That will not work.

Go to System -> Administration and click on the second of the two entries for "Printing". Click on "New Printer" and find your Epson Stylus Colour 760 on the printer list. Then click on "Install Driver".

Thanks for the instructions. That's exactly what I figured out by trial and error. I'm not exactly programming savvy, so your input is helpful. I'm guessing this will be true of any software or drivers that require Windows? P.S. I am using a "recycled" cpu that reads "designed for Microsoft Me, Windows 98, brand MIcron Millenia) even though the 'operating system'?' is Xubuntu.

In Ubuntu, drivers are an inherent part of the central unit, the kernel. Linux works differently to Windows in that it consists of several separate modules and hence is much more secure than Windows.

Forget all you know about having to install drivers. While there are times when you still have to do just that, it is not a common practice.

As to running software written for Windows, why would you want to do that? Use the Linux equivalent.

You once had to learn how to use Windows - now you can learn how to use Linux.

I can guarantee that if you continue on your journey with Linux, you will never ever return to using Windows. Linux empowers you whereas Windows disenfranchises you.

See for yourself.
