Package updates aren't being updated, and having problem with "verification Identification"

Can you try a different Software Sources by going to the System Menu, Administration, Software Sources.
Choose "Download From" and select "Other" then "Best Server".

This will choose a source nearer you and you should then be able to use Update Manager again.
