Buffer I/0 error device sr1

whenever i try to install or load the live cd for ubuntu .... whatever the most recent version is it comes up with

Buffer error I/0 device sr1 logical ####.#####

it is similar to all the other buffer errors only mine is sr1

i had a similar problem. Check Cd for defects sometimes that is the problem, or burn a new one and it should work.
