cannot get rhythmbox to CORRECTLY transfer songs to iPod Sfuffle

Asked by maluze

I have just switched over to Ubuntu almost 3 weeks ago. However, i cannot get ANY programs that "work" for other iPods to work succesfully with my 2nd Gen iPod Shuffle. I can "transfer" songs to my Shuffle, but once i try to play it, it says there is no music on my shuffle. All my music is now in ubuntu, but when i booted into Windows, all the music i put in using rhythmbox registers under "other", and not "music" like it would if it were done using iTunes.

can someone help me to get my iPod to correctly sync under Ubuntu, where the Shuffle will actually PLAY the music???

There is no need to ACCENT text like that, it just comes across as rude.

Have you tried gtkpod at all? I tried some transferring to my pod using Rhythmbox and ended up with some strange entries in the pod's library - I tried gtkpod after and things seem fine now (no music in the movies folder anymore, etc). Admittedly, I'm using a (5th gen?) 30GB video iPod, so YMMV.

Actually, I have...i deleted all the songs on my ipod, did everything short of reformatting the iPod using an updater (which you can't really do in Ubuntu AFAIK), and transferred a test song to see if gtkpod would work. Lo and behold...i experienced the same problem as i did with rhythmbox...

I found this solution posted by rhythmbox users more knowledgable than me, but i have no idea how to implement it to see if it works...can anyone check the link out and explain how to do it? I am sort of a newbie to Ubuntu...
