No sound

Asked by guidemeintheeyesofblindness@yahoo.com

I just did a fresh install of 8.04 and lost all sound.

I opened my pc and looked for a sound card.

I found one- Creative labs model number sb 0100

Is there a sound driver for such a beast?

If that is the Creative SoundBlaster Live 5.1 then it should work out of the box.

The driver is built into Hardy Heron.

What does your terminal reveal when you type in

aplay -l

If you have 2 audio cards please disable the embedded audio card by entring into pc bios settings...

or

Open a terminal from Application->Accessories->Terminal and type:

asoundconf list
> asoundconf give you the name of recognized audio cards

asoundconf set-default-card PARAMETER
> change the PARAMETER value with the one returned by "asoundconf list"

and try...

Hope this helps
