I am getting multiple ISD server error messages on start up

Asked by steve

When I start my computer, i get multiple error messages that all say "The ISD-server could not be started because port 5800 is already in use." This is a recent developement but I cannot find which application is causing the problem. Can anyone help please? This problem has been posted but closed in the past, however I see others have the same problem in other forums and it seems no one has a resolution...

It seems that one common program that can cause this is "ica", from a package called "italc-client", which is installed as part of Edubuntu. Uninstalling that, if it's installed, may solve your problem. If not, try "netstat -pant", and look for a program listening on port 5800.

For that matter, I can't actually see what an ISD server is...

Thomas, thanks for that. I had installed edubuntu to test out for a client. removing italc completely resolved the problem.

The same solution seem to have solved the identical problem on my computer (Jaunty Jakalope). Thanks.
