failed to download repository information, check your internet connection

Asked by Abdur

Hi
Ubuntu Man

Im new to use ubuntu OS, version 10.04 Desktop in VM. I'm trying to install ubuntu software. But facing a problem "failed to download repository information, check your internet connection " (while internet connection is available, I checked it clearly) at every installation of software. I make it google, read Ubuntu forum, check answers at this community. But fail to get any solution.

Actually I'm newest user, Please guide me step by step instead of sending a lot of links. Please. Thanks in advance. Stay bless.

You must use a release that is supported. See site above.
Look closely at End Of Life dates. (EOL)

Recommend 16.04, because of long support time.

It's like looking for Windows updates on Windows 98.

I suggest you wipe the install off and do a clean install of Xenial. Xenial is LTS and supported til April 2021
