I don't know the password.

Hello i just installed the new ubuntu 8.04.1 together with windows xp and i don't know the password becouse at the instalation it didn't ask me to configure the password.
I tried adduser but when it asked ad new unix password i couldn't type in anything.What should i do?

The installation should have asked you your password.

In ubuntu, there is no root password, but that's why you have to type you user's password.
Take a look at this for more information: http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/sudo

Otherwise adduser should work fine, when it asks for a password you can't see what you are typing for security reasons, but it's working actually.

*BUT* if the current user is the user you want to change the password, just type passwd (in a terminal, applications -> accessories -> terminal)
