Has stopped playing CD'S

I have been able to play mp3's and CD's, up untill today, when I put in a CD, it struggles to mount the drive, and when it does.. it recognised the CD disc and display the tracks in movie player or rhythmbox, but will not play them, it has also stoped play the mp3's, just will not play them... (not the sound has stopped)

Play mp3 and dvd under Ubuntu
First please install https:/
You need to have extra repositories enabled..
Please first enable the multiverse repository:
Open System-
enable "Software restrictecd by copyright or legal issue ( multiverse )"
Close and confirm the repository reload.
Type the following command in a terminal (applications -> accessories -> terminal)
sudo aptitude install vlc
To get better dvd playback first you need to add the medibuntu http://
here howto add https:/
Then to install:
sudo update
sudo aptitude install libdvdread3 libdvdnav4 libdvdcss2
give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.
