Does Ubuntu 8.04 run on PS3?

I just wondered if Ubuntu would run on PS3, as I know it's compatible with Linux. I've ordered Ubuntu 8.4 and would like to know if I should try to install on the HDD.

I don't know why it came up as "solved". This is a download to burn onto CD but I don't have access to the internet except for my mobile phone. I have ordered CDs to install onto the PS3. But will it run and do I need to be online to install it?

Hi Simon,

If the Ubuntu CD's you ordered are custom-made for the PS3, you should be ok.

I don't think you need an Internet connection to install Ubuntu on any pc, including the PS3 (as long as you have the Ubuntu install CDROM)

These instructions are for Gutsy Gibbon. Are they the same for Hardy Heron?

From what I read on the Internet and after reading:

I get the impression that it is safer to try to install Gutsy Gibbon on the PS3 and not Hardy Heron. I recommend installing Gutsy Gibbon and then following these instructions: http://psubuntu.com/wiki/InstallationInstructions/

Sorry, but I do not know if the instructions are different for Hardy Heron, because I could not find the instructions for Hardy...
