windows xp right click program list

Asked by busterbean

A deleted program continues to appear in the drop down list whenever I right click on the start menu button, where 'open' and 'explore' and properties is, as well as whenever I right click on a document.

How can I edit/remove that program name from those lists?

Thanks

There is a nice little program that can help you. Its a free program called autoruns by sysinternals. You can get it here.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_autoruns/

Start the program and go into the explorer tab. You should see the entries under the context handlers registry keys. You can uncheck the boxes. If you recheck the box, it will return. To get rid of it forever, delete it.

So, I don't need any of those entries, if I uncheck them all? I can't find the name of the program I've deleted in the keys.

You can install Ubuntu + Windows on the same pc...

Give Ubuntu a chance... you can use it as a rescue system when Win take viruses and it is not able to start...

It is very easy to install on the same pc where you have Win

If you do so we are glad to help you ...
