Assuming you have a working LiveCD you can follow this simple HOWTO
http://
For partioning if you choose (Guided - use entire disk) you will be able to start fresh with ubuntu only.
Hope this helps

No I figured out that the problem was my disc space, I dont have enough. is there a way to only download what i need to run program without all the extras? Or do I just need to somehow get more memory?

windows xp intel Pentium 4. It had corrupt data so could not use it at all, all i could access before was BIOS. but unfortunately it only has 2 gig memory so download will only reach 73%. i tried to increase the partition but i could not, even by only 1mb because it is to large for the computer to handle. Oh by the way the other name on the hard drive also reads powerspec, not sure if that would help at all but, i figured i would give everything i know. so in the mean time i am using Nobilis pentium II. using windows 98 till i can get the other computer to work properly.

I cant, My Windows XP is not working properly, missing important files needed to operate. I can only access BIOS. That is why i ordered this disc so i could stop using the one i am on now, which is windows 98.

You should be all set when you get this disk. Just make sure you the entire disk so you wipe off that win98 partition and start fresh.
If you get in trouble when you try installing, just aks for help.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
I would like you to review the following information. First is a list of the minimum system requirements to run Ubuntu. If you have an older, slower computer you may want to consider Xubuntu which utilizes a lightweight desktop and managers your system more efficiently.
Minimum system requirements to install Ubuntu 8.04.1
https:/
Since you are unable to download Ubuntu from your computer, I suggest you do one of the following.
Download and burn the LiveCD from another computer if possible.
Download the standard Ubuntu 8.04.1 32bit ISO image from here, torrent is better:
http://
http://
Buy or request a free CD
http://
Once you have a good LiveCD you should be able to install Ubuntu.
Thank you

This is hd number 1 with swap on partition 1:
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 3823470 3968054 72292+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
this is hd number 2 with Ubuntu on partition number 1:
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 63 37576034 18787986 83 Linux
Result: Partition table entries are not in disk order
You may reinstall from CD as suggested above.
Maybe you like to install MinimalCD and add applications you prefer later.
