Will not boot

Asked by ChsunGlasses05

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 6.10 desktop i386 on an AMD Athlon M processor, 512 mb ram. I get to the option screen and select "Start or install Ubunto" and it goes to a spash screen with a loading bar. And thats all the further it gets. The loading bar never moves. I can eject the CD and put it back in and nothing happens. Whats going on?

Hello

When you boot off the cd, before you press on "Start or install Ubuntu", have a look at the different parameters for booting, below the screen, you will see special boot, I do not remember what is the key, but it should be F4 or F6.

Hello !

I had the same kind of problem ... Maybe you can try to install Feisty instead (release scheduled om April 19 or beta version, which is quite stable indeed ...), which has an increased hardware support.

Hope this helps !

Regards,
Benoît

Remove the "splash" and "quiet" options so you can see verbose output. That way you can see at what point it hangs. Report back the last few lines you see on the screen when it boots without these options.

Can you help with this problem?
