Cannot install Ubuntu 8.04.1 on VirtualPC

I cannot install Ubuntu 8.04.1 on a VirtualPC from Microsoft. I get the following error ( An unrecoverable processor error has been encountered. The virtual machine will reset now.)

I think this may be something to do with VirtualPC than Linux(or Ubuntu) itself, try using Virtual Box from here:-
http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
and see if it works any better.
