Right click on the loudspeaker icon on your top panel and click on "Open Volume Control". Then click on "Edit" and then "Preferences". Place a tick into the boxes next to Headphone +3dB Boost, Headphone Amp, Microphone, Microphone Capture, Mic Boost (+20dB) and Mic Input Source. Then close.

Back in Volume Control tick the boxes Headphone +3dB Boost, Microphone Capture and Mic Boost (+20dB). Leave the others blank.

Did you make all the suggested changes and does your microphone work now?

it works but the output is very bad.....but on the other side is the o/p is good in windows....so i assume that there is no problem with the hardware.
