Memory stick

Am running Hardy. Recently, at some boots, my USB memory stick does not appear in the file system. Can I resolve this without having to reboot?

It may be detected but not mounting....

Can you give the output of the two commands

sudo fdisk -l

AND

ls /dev/sd*
