Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

The PIXMA iP2600 is supported according to linuxprinting.org:

http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-PIXMA_iP2600

However, the driver isn't included in the main Ubuntu distribution, as far as I can tell. You'll need to download and install two packages from Canon.

http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/contents/ASIA/EN/0100118902.html
http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/contents/ASIA/EN/0100119102.html

Scroll to the bottom of each page and click 'Download'; you'll have the option to open the packages with 'GDebi' and install them. Do that, and you should be able to install the printer via the System->Administration->Printing tool, selecting the 'ip2600series' driver.

I should caution you that I don't have one of these printers, and I'm only reporting what I've seen elsewhere. There's a thread on the Ubuntu forums where some people went through finding and installing the drivers; I'm summarizing here.

If you run into any problems, please reply here and I'll see what else I can do.

Can you help with this problem?
