Hard drive wiped

Asked by dylan on 2008-09-14

My friend told me about the OS. So i went and installed it and it worked great. I started to look around then I got bored and wanted to go back mo my other OS(vista). When i went to boot it back up it wasn't there. I went to the installing screen for Ubuntu to look at what OS's I had on my computer, and the only OS was Ubuntu. I tried to reinstall vista via the recovery cd's but they gave me an error, so they didn't work. And now I am stuck with Ubuntu and no more vista. If anyone could please help me I would gladly appreciate it. Thank you.

you may be hav mistaken in your partitioning, removing, resizing, the hard drive.did you follow the installation process carefully? If you want to go back to vista, try to reformat the disk, make sure to back up all important files. You can remove your disk and put it to other computer as slave or you can use live cd of kubuntu/ubuntu etc.You said it gave you an error, what error?

I'll try what you said, but the error that it said was "type mismatch"

I think I found out what I did. I think I selected to overwrite my whole hard drive with Ubuntu. Well that was a BIG mistake for me. Im downloading a disk for vista now to see if that will work. I will still try what you said and I hope it works :)

well if you still got a problem, about reformating as you said you want to go bak to microsoft, and you have to reformat or change file system of the disk, u can use other hardisk utility to recover, reformat, low  level format,or full erase your disk,be care ful using hardisk utility it can damage your disk.Any way i'm kubuntu 8.04 user now a have switch unto her, and found it the best,in fact u can still use kubuntu and windows in the same computer,in fact i got fedora and kubuntu in my computer...
