I have 2 Operating systems, XP and Ubuntu, my keyboards don't get power until after the timer to pick an OS is done. I can't get on XP. This just started to happen.

Asked by z3ned

I have tried restarting and swapping keyboards. No good. Also tried putting a PS/2 key board in didn't work. The timer only last 9 seconds, and before i never had a problem my keyboards always had power and i could choose XP or Ubuntu. Is there anyway I can change that timer threw Ubuntu or something Please HELP!!

You can alter the boot menu file located in /boot/grub/menu.lst through the command:

sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

(If you don't have gedit, install it)

There you can change several settings, such as Timeout (the timer until the system boots automatically; this is a number).
Near the end of the file, you can change the boot menu following a certain syntax. There should be some examples within the same file.

Can you help with this problem?
