Insert your 8gb flash drive then

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

dmesg

Please check fro error or warning messages you will get at the end of dmesg command.

Then be also sure your 8gb file system on the flash drive is with no error on it.

Thank you

Possibly relevant: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/261710

In which case, running this in a terminal may fix the problem for a single reboot:

echo 6 > /sys/module/scsi_mod/parameters/inq_timeout

Can you help with this problem?
