Can't hear my voice on skype

Asked by Jeff Felberbaum

I have Skype version 1.3.0.5.3_API, but am running edgy.

Folks I call can't hear me, and I can't get my voice to record a Skype test message. I checked sound preferences in system/preferences/sound, and all the tests worked except for "sound capture" worked fine, i.e., I was able to hear a constant tone when the appropriate buttons were clicked.

With sound capture, there was no sound, and I got two messages:

1. gconfaudiosrc ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=chat: Resource busy or not available.

and

2. Failed to construct test pipeline for 'gconfaudiosrc ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=chat'

Not sure if I should run the scripts listed in this thread, or what.

Thx!!

Got AlsaMixerGui and saw that sound / microphone boxes needed to be enabled.

Thanks all for your help.

Hello everyone,

tried out AlsaMixerGUI as well ... but am not sure what parameter needs to be tuned for skype to hear my voice? Also I can only control Master and PCM. I cannot do anything else with the rest.

Any help is much appreciated,

Thanks
