(I assume this is firefox) Check that in

Edit > Preferences > Content

All checkboxes are ticked, then try to watch a video

yours sincerely jenna

To install programs on ubuntu you use add and remove programs or synaptic package manager.
To view videos from youtube etc.. on ubuntu you install the "Ubuntu restricted extras " package and "adobe flash"
You can get these by searching for them in add and remove programs.

Hope that helps

Play mp3 and dvd under Ubuntu

First please install https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

You need to have extra repositories enabled..

Using System->Administration->Software sources [Ubuntu software tab] please enable (Check the checkbox) all the showed repositories rows.

after getting all the required repositories enabled

Type the following command in a terminal (applications -> accessories -> terminal)

sudo aptitude install vlc

To get better dvd playback first you need to add the medibuntu http://www.medibuntu.org/ repository to your /etc/apt/sources.list file:
here howto add https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu here the medibuntu available software list http://packages.medibuntu.org/

Then to install:

sudo update
sudo aptitude install libdvdread3 libdvdnav4 libdvdcss2

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

How to install flash

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

sudo apt-get clean all

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

If you have some trouble with sound you can also install the libflashsupport
then open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libflashsupport

Hope this helps
