Wireless for Thinkpad T23

Asked by KC

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 from the Live CD on a Thinkpad T23 and it does not see any wireless networks. I have attempted to connect to a wireless network by entering the network name and parameters but it fails. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Please following instructions here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=442420

First blacklist the prism2_pci driver. If wireless still does not work properly, also blacklist the hostap_pci driver and try again.

If you still cannot connect to wifi using knetworkmanager, install wicd and try to connect using wicd. Of course, you will need to have a wired connection to the Internet before attempting to install wicd ;-)

If wireless still does not work using wicd, please send us the output of these commands:

lsmod | grep orinoco
lsmod | grep hostap
lsmod | grep prism2

sudo lshw -C Network
lspci -nn
iwconfig
ifconfig

Regards,

Mark
