trying to install ubuntu16.10, error access denied

Asked by Mark Angus

Computer novice I'm afraid, trying to get better OS & securlty for my PC
Downloaded ubuntu-16.10-desktop-amd64 onto a USB & also downloaded Rufus2.11.995 onto PC. opened Rufus & followed instructions on https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows, all works well until the final step & then get Error: Access to the devise denied.
I'm logged on as administrator but wondering if the PC is too old, 2007 Dell model, Windows XP, Intel core 2 CPU, 6420 @ 2.13GHz, 2.0GB of RAM.
trying to get ubuntu os loaded onto PC so I can get away from windows, if all works well will try on my MAC.
Any help much appreciated.

Try unetbootin, is it the same? I assume you MD5 tested the ISO you downloaded and formatted the USB stick partition to FAT32 before transferring the data.
