The vague-1.0.5.tar.gz (19.1 M) was downloaded from www.vicbioinformatics.com/software.vague.shtml. This website can not be opened recently.

The vague-master.zip (1.3 M) was downloaded from https://github.com/Victorian-Bioinformatics-Consortium/vague.

The Bio-Linux 8.0 (Jan. 2015) was installed. I am new to Linux and want to use Vague to de noval assembly Illumina NGS fastq files.

Thanks

The last update was 4 years ago.... Do you really want to use this. It's no longer maintenaned.

VAGUE: a graphical user interface for the Velvet assembler.
This tool is still good for sequence assembly.
The question is How can I install Vague after downloaded in my computer?

sudo apt-get install velvet-long

You can then download both files here https://github.com/Victorian-Bioinformatics-Consortium/vague/tree/master/velvet-binaries/linux-x86_64

Mark them as executable and run them.

The thing you have already downloaded is probably an archive of source code which you can compile. You will need to satisfy a few dev dependencies as well as build-essential which will give you an ANSI standard C and C++ compiler.

Do the pre-built binaries run OK?
