Your Ubuntu version is too old compared to your wireless adapter.

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is indeed supported by this forum, but not a good choice for your wireless adapter....

Please test Ubuntu 16.04.1 in a LiveUSB Session. Ubuntu 16.04.1 was released in July 2016 and should be recent enough.

If wireless works out-of-the-box during that LiveUSB Session, I suggest performing a clean install of Ubuntu 16.04.1 after performing a backup of all your data.

Or you could wait until next Thursday, when Ubuntu 16.04.2 is released....
