difficulty installing canon pro 9000 usb printer

Asked by Harry

I use Ubuntu 16.4 and had previously installed canon pro 9000 mkii printer successfully. Recently the printer would not print so I deleted the printer to do a fresh install but it will not do so automatically. I get the request for a URL but cannot find this reference anywhere. I would be grateful for advice on how to proceed. I run a dual boot system with W 10 and it works perfectly well there. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Was the printer connected and powered on when you ran the command?

Hi actionparsnip

I did not have canon printer on last time but now attach the new command string with canon printer on.

Hope you can advise me how to rectify. Also as a matter of interest when I did have it connected previously sometimes it would take over 5 minutes to start printing certain files. Other files like pdf and odt were instantaneous. jpegs and certain others were ages to start printing??

Remove the printer from Ubuntu and power the device off. Reboot and login. Let the system settle then power on the printer.

If it doesn't automatically configure itself then go to:

http://localhost:631

and add the printer there.
