Ubuntu MID on Intel Atom

Asked by Giovanni Lovato

How can I install Ubuntu MID on an Intel Atom based netbook? I own an Acer Aspire One and I wish to install Ubuntu MID on it since the regular version of Ubuntu is not optimized for netbook...

I don't understand your problem! Did you tried to install ubuntu mid or do you want a HowTo? You should make a bootable usb device or you need an external cdrom device.

Please post informations after install, how fast does it boot now? I tried theubuntu umpc image, took 1 minute to gdm and then 30sec to the desktop. The aspire one boot 15sec to the linpus program selector, or 16sec if a normal xfce desktop with fc8 / livna is configured. Windows on ssd netbooks will boot in 20sec.
The goal seems to be a static kernel without image-rd and module loader, with concurrency boot you only save 5sec. But never a difference from 16sec to 90sec.
