I've been infected with some kind of virus that looks like it mis directed at Windows and Apple

It's a Windows virus. It won't affect your Linux install.

Boot to Windows and scan the file with your AV solution.

Such messages CAN BE false positives.
I suggest that you upload that file to virustotal for checking.
