Update errors

Asked by Cushie

I am struggling to get update system to work without errors (6.10, kernel 2.3.17.11)

W: GPG error: http://kubuntu.org edgy Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY A506E6D4DD4D5088

Further on invitation to update to 7.04 I got this error twice :-
Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/feisty-security/main/binary-i386/Packages.bz2 Sub-process bzip2 returned an error code (2)

I always get errors in trying to update:-

Duplicate sources.list entry http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com edgy/universe Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/gb.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_edgy_universe_binary-i386_Packages)
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://security.ubuntu.com edgy-security/restricted Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_edgy-security_restricted_binary-i386_Packages)
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://security.ubuntu.com edgy-security/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_edgy-security_main_binary-i386_Packages)
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://security.ubuntu.com edgy-security/universe Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_edgy-security_universe_binary-i386_Packages)

Your help would be most appreciated.

You have duplicated repositories like this local (gb) server: deb http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy universe. You have it twice and you have it repeated one more time in global server.

Change your sources.list to this:

deb http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy-updates main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu edgy-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy-updates restricted main multiverse universe
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy-proposed restricted main multiverse universe

deb-src http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy-updates main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu edgy-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy-updates restricted main multiverse universe
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy-proposed restricted main multiverse universe
