Need help getting my adept manager working again, its locked up.

Asked by Nackerman44

My adept manager will not work anymore because something is blocking if from running. every time i try to have it run it tells me this, "You will not be able to change your system settings in any way (install, remove, or upgrade software), because another process is using the packaging system database (probably some other adept application or apt-get or aptidude). Please close the other application before using this one."
I do not know what program is still running to keep it from working properly.
Could someone please help me?

Thanks

There are couple of suggestions made in another thread: https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/aptitude/+question/24497 Not sure about all the steps, but I have found the need to issue a sudo dpkg --configure -a on rare occasions

Probably obvious, but doesn't hurt to cover this as well: I usually make sure no other update program is running (whether it be synaptic, update manager, apt-get etc. etc.)
