Problem with partitioning the hard disk

I tried to boot ubuntu along with windows(Vista 64-bit).When i choosed manual selection of space instead of choosin "use the entire disk" option it says tat root file system is missing...So if u could tell me how to resolve this prob.
Thankx in advance if u r helpin me.

while you are creating a partition for ubuntu ,you should specify a mount point for it as /(root),otherwise you will get the error you encountered
