Ok then, this is legit?
I didn't see this version on the Ubuntu site, that's why I asked.

I'm leery of scams, i get them daily in emails.
Recently I had one of my secure Linux websites defaced by a hacker.

I just don't want problems.

So thanks,

Ed

It seems to be a real product if that's what you mean, however it's not produced by Canonical so I wouldn't expect it to be as polished and well tested as an official release.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for your time and answer.

I was concerned because I did not see this version listed on the Ubuntu
website.

I recently had a secure Linux server website defaced by hackers.
This came as a shock to me.

So now I am being a bit more cautious.

A few years ago I switched from MS windows XP and from windows servers
hosting sites because of the security problems.
I'm now using Linux/Unix hosting sites.
And all my computers have Linspire 5.0 and this one is a Mac 10.4.9 OS.

I've heard a lot about Ubuntu and want to see if it would handle my
scanner, and if it was better with some other minor program glitches I'm
experiencing, than Linspire.

If you have any information on these I do appreciate it.

Thanks again.

Ed

Hi Jonathan,

I tried Ubuntu 6.10 Live from CD & then put it temporarily on a spare
hard drive.
I am impressed!

I wonder if you can help me.
I want to put Ubuntu on a partition on a hard drive already has Linspire
5.0.

I tried doing it manually but kept getting error messages.
If I let it do an automatic install it wants to take over the whole drive.

With Linspire it's very easy to install on any partition I choose.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for your time.

Ed
