"Encryption and Keyrings" can't change hardisk logon password

Asked by DayvanMollusk

I haven't changed my password for a while. Been trying to change it without success. Every time I try to change it in the "Encryption and Keyrings" panel I always get the error ""Access Denied" though I positively entered the correct info.

This is because you are trying to change the password in the wrong place. Go to users and groups
System>Administration>users and groups
Select unlock and type your password.
Select your name and go into properties.
You can change your password there.

Hope that helps

Or at a terminal, type "passwd" and follow the prompts.
