Ubuntu 7.10: Sync not supported Monitor error
I am absolute beginner to the Concept of Linux. But i want to shift from the traditional windows to the linux environment. Henceforth, i requested for a Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon live CD. Just 2 days back i recieved my Ubuntu CD via mail and i was eager to install it on my system which has the following specs:
Intel P IV 3.06 GHZ, 1MB L2 Cache,
256MB DDR2 RAM
Intel Integrated Graphics 2 (96 MB Shared Video Memory)
Samsung Samtron Monitor
80 GB Sata HDD + 40 GB (IDE) HDD.
DVD ROM + CD RW LiteOn Combo Disc Drive
I have got windows XP Professional installed on one of the 2 Partitions of the 40 GB HDD and wanted to install ubuntu along with Windows i.e. Dual Boot.
I went through a lot of Video Guides for installing windows and then finally decided to install ubuntu on my native Drive.
As I put my Live CD in my Drive, i saw the logon screen in fron of me. I chose the 800 X 600 X 32 mode and then i hit the Start or install ubuntu in normal mode.
Then the Ubuntu Loding Screen appeared on the Screen, just as it was to complete a screen full of Red Green Orange Lines (Horizontal) appeared, I waited for long and finally rebooted.
This time i started to install using Safe Graphics option , this time the linux kernel loade fully and i installed ubuntu.
Just as i was to first Run Ubuntu i cropped up with th error.
As the GRUB appeared in fron of me and i chose the Default ubuntu 7.a0 Default option i got the Monitor screen full Black and a Blue Box virtually Dancing in front of me, saying:
"Sync Not Supported"
I was shell Shocked as i waited waited and waited but still the same.
i then decided to seek help on internet and failed miserably as i didnt knew how to approch the new OS Recovery console.
I opened the live CD again and then tried few thing my self and after no success i Decided to write off Linux (Because of an lo 1.1 GB Free Disc Space on the windows Drive, so i uninstalled it and rezized my windows Partition to Original.
But i still wanna use Linux and would like to know any DETAILED SOLUTION, if some one here can Bear the Pain.
I would Love to know if some one can help me in setting up ubuntu (installation) on a Secondary Partition of my Hard Drive.
