x-window-system-core

Asked by Caliga

Hello, and thanks for any assistance in advance:)

After attempting to install ubuntu on my old satellite laptop, i found that it would end up with just a black screen after loading.

Eventually i found this article on how to bypass this problem:

http://michaelminn.com/linux/toshiba1800/

So far i have managed to get up to the point of installing the ubuntu desktop, but the problem is neither of hte commands:

sudo apt-get install xorg ubuntu-desktop
OR
sudo apt-get install x-window-system-core ubuntu-desktop

will work for me, they both produce the following error

"E: Couldn't find package"

Any help would be greately apreciated, thanks!
