Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I installed Thinkfinger and I registrered a couple of fingers, there is just one thing I don't really understand in the instructions and that is how I tie the fingerprint to my account. I think it has something to do with sudo tf-tool --add-user your_login but I don't really know what to make of this.

All you should need to do is (with your account logged in) run:
     sudo tf-tool --acquire
register your fingerprint. And then to verify:
     sudo tf-tool --verify

You can also look for a .thinkfinger.bir in your home directory as well. You'll have to do a ls -la to show the hidden files (from a terminal) or in the GUI select View | Show Hidden Files from the menu bar.

I am also interested in using my fingerprint program.

You say:

All you should need to do is (with your account logged in) run:
     sudo tf-tool --acquire
register your fingerprint. And then to verify:
     sudo tf-tool --verify

How do I do that? I do not know what or where the "sudo tf-tool" is, whether to use it in the start run.
