It is located on an external Hard Drive, and I am not sure which file it is but I think it is a photo storage area.

For actionparnsip this file system is not provided in the properties, but it is a Toshiba and the files are accessible through both Windows which I almost never use, and UBUNTU current version 16.04

Your last comments do not answer my question and also not actionparsnip's:

What is the exact text of the message that you receive from clam about the malware file?
How was "the name of my external hard drive" shown in that error message? In a form like "/dev/sdb1" or like /media/DATADRIVE", or ...?

What file system type is that external drive? FAT16? NTFS? ext4? ...?

After several tries to get rid of the malware in the las few days, today tried another scan to get the full id, and it came out clean. No idea how, but it is clean. Thanks for the input, Now I will be more prudent.
I understand from on of my UBUNTU magazines that specifically targets Linux?
