Why isn't the 'wl' driver included in Intrepid?

My card works best with the hybrid_wl driver provided by Broadcom. This driver used to enable itself with the restricted drivers dialog and my wireless would just work. In Intrepid, the driver is absent and I have to download and compile it myself. Why did they get rid of it? It seems like a regression to me.

Please ask/inform developer of Ubuntu "Intrepid Ibex" 8.10, raise a bug about this.
