AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 03)

Hi,

I have loaded Ubuntu 8.04LTS onto a Panasonic Toughbook CF-T2 but I don't seem to get any sound. Here is a list of devices using lspci:

I have tried looking in the sound properties, checking the volumes are up, uncheck mute, etc but there is still no sound. I have enabled ALSA in the services as well.

Please can anyone help?

I presume you've checked the obvious stuff: make sure none of the volume sliders are at zero? Nothing muted?
Try some simple program like alsaplayer to make sure there's no misconfiguration on your media player.
Then, look in /var/log/syslog, searching for your chip number, or "audio" or "ac97" and see if there are relevant error messages.

After that? I don't know.
