wireless connection reported as wired and disconnected

Asked by Mark Olson

When laptop boots wireless connection is functioning. After some time, without activity, the connection is dropped and the network config shows the connection as wired. I have to re-boot in order to get the wireless connection back.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs .

Please try if disabling ipv6 dress this issue.

Howto disable ipv6

Please use this official method to disable ipv6 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WebBrowsingSlowIPv6IPv4

In short, open Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type

sudo sh -c 'echo blacklist ipv6 >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.local'

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

The above command appends a line to the local blacklist configuration. The file will be created if it does not exist.

To restart your computer, type:

sudo reboot

Hope this helps
