problem with dvi on dell sx270

Asked by tJim Tobias

I have a Dell SX270 with DVI. The 8.04 install worked okay. But on reboot after the progress bar and a few on and off flickers, the video stops; I can hear the Gnome desktop prompting me, but no video. It's not a display problem, as I can get other video to display (VGA, S-video, etc.). I have searched through numerous sources and it appears I have to edit xorg.conf somehow, but I don't see exactly what I'm supposed to put where. Any help would be most appreciated.
