Ubuntu 8.04 on Virtual Box in XP with a screen size problem

Asked by Highlander

Hi All;

I installed Ubunty 8.04 in a Virtual Box under Windows XP Pro and I have a screen size problem. Ubuntu only goes to 800x600 and I need 1400x900 in full screen mode. Otherwise it works fine.Ideas ??? My laptop is a Averatec 7100 series with 2 GB of ram and a 160 gig Hard Drive and 2 TB's of external hard drives via usb. The onboard video card is a ATI Radeon Xpress 200M.

Thanks

It is most likely due to the fact that the video card is detected as standard VGA under the VM.

Here is a link to the bit of information I found doing a Google search.

http://www.aviransplace.com/2008/07/01/change-screen-resolution-for-ubuntu-804-running-under-virtualbox/

Hope it helps.
