Installing HP P1005 printer

Asked by Ben

I plugged in my HP P1005 printer and Ubuntu 8.04 detected it. However, when i try to print a page the paper feeds through and only a blank page comes out. I have hplip installed along with foo2zjs 20071205-0ubuntu3. How do i install the HP P1005 printer properly so pages don't come out blank?

Thanks Daniel. I discovered the problem, the plastic tape was still in the new toner and it was removed by pulling on the orange ring.

Hi, with my HP P1005, after installation of the drivers, I got pages printed with low density. (like with an old tonner)
but the same PC with XP gives excellent pages.

Now I have installed better drivers from HP on the net and also foo2zjs : the test pages gets much better but a real page
is still with low density

what should I do
Thanks for help
