Thinking of installing Ubuntu on HP9402 with AMD64*2 processor. Any suggestions about what works out of the box?

Asked by Mohammad Ashraf

Greetings:

I am thinking about switching from Vista and installing Ubuntu on my HP 9402 laptop with a AMD 64*2 processor and 1 G ram. I am new to this and want to make sure before I make the switch. Which version do you think will work best "out-of-the-box" ? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I don't think there should be much of a difference between the effectiveness of different editions, although in terms of version then the current version (8.04) is your best bet. Also I recommend you to try Ubuntu since that seems to be the best edition(only my opinion) although the other editions are also good and special in their own ways.
