will not install from the add/remove and or the packet manager

i keep getting a error that looks like this...
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

it wont let me do this because im not a super user but when i did it the first time it went without a problem.

a quick reply would be nice

Attempt the following:

Open up a terminal, type the following command

sudo dpkg --configure -a

I hope this will solve your problem :)

you always need to have root privilege for installing softwares.
i dont think that you could have ever instaled anything without root privileges...when you issue a "sudo" / "gksu" , the password persists for 5 minutes, that is, you dont have to reissue the password for 5 minutes; i think that confused you.
